My photographic journey started in the early 1970’s.  Initially, my interests were limited to natural landscape surroundings, using color slide film and street photography in Dallas, TX using B & W film that I learned to develop and also print in B & W.  My images came from backpacking trips to western Texas, National Parks in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona and the John Muir Trial in the California Sierras.

I didn’t take photography seriously until I retired at the end of 2008. From an African Safari in East Africa trip, a couple of images inspired me to take photography more seriously. Two of my images were published in the Smithsonian's 2010 magazines issue of the Windland Rice International Nature Competition.

In 2015 my image Baboon Eyes was chosen for a book cover by a Cape Town, South Africa Book Publishing Company.

Since then, I’ve traveled to East Africa three more times and to Southern Africa in the Spring of 2017. My image, “House of Sand and Light” received 1st place in this year's NHAA Omer T. Lassonde Art Competition was taken from this trip. 

I have edited my wildlife images to put emphasis on the animals more as portraits. Later I began experimenting with Photoshop attempting to create more artistic images. Recently, I’ve been using Layers in Photoshop to combine several images in what I hope is resulting in more creative images.

And so, my journey continues . . .
